holy fuck i'm leaving today.

that's it, kids. i'm breaking the streak. yes, i have my own blog now (i'm a big girl!!) but the electronic jlo can't die. so i'll tell you all that last thursday i took a jaunt to dc with a friend and got to hang with the likes of lovely mia and annelicious, namely, among other wonderful friends who probably will never look at this blog, so i won't go there. yes, you jealous biatches, not only did we go for delicious bangkok bistro, but capped off the night with some cheap-o vino and hillarity in mia's snazzy apartment (yes, it's weird that i don't live there). also her apartment has a piano. a real one. and paintingless paintings ascending the staircase (i don't get it either). so here are some funny/cute photos. and YOU PEOPLE BETTER START POSTING! ahem...

And I'm back... on our last episode of "Lifestyles of the Young and Lazy" you will remember that I was doing nothing and getting bored and couldn't wait for work to start... I was such an idiot.

Here is now my standard day:

7:45 Time my alarm rings
8:05 Time my alarm wakes me up
9:00 Time I'm supposed to get to work
9:30 Time I stroll in
12:00 Hour lunch break with the ladies
3:00-5:00 Get of work sometime in this timeframe
5:00-7:00 Laze around downtown Evanston usually doing MCAT homework or reading books in Barnes and Noble; eventually either eat alone crying or pick up dinner to eat in class
7:00 MCAT class starts at Northwestern
10:00 Get to the gym
12:15 Return home after a long day
1:30 Go to bed after watching an hour of TV

That's right, I've got about 15 hour days with periodic breaks. I usually also take breaks by napping during MCAT class or group meetings on Thursdays at work.

Lets see, I went to Leadershape down at U of I about a month or so ago and it was amazing! I met a bunch of cool people and randomly there was another person from Georgetown there. It was a blast and I learned a lot and had a lot of fun. We stayed at this old country house outside of Champaign (where UofI is). It used to be owned by this totally in the closet homosexual. He hired a woman to live with him, but they slept in separate rooms and he travelled the world with his man servant. Also my facebook picture is just pointing out the numerous overly anatomically correct statues all over the property. The best is the "sun-singer" a giant statue facing west with his hands in the air so that when the sun rises he's holding it. Butt Naked except for his helmet. Anyways, Leadershape, fun, then came to work... fun, but not in the same way.

So if I told you that I was studying "antibiotic resistance in a bacterial infection" I was lying to you, see what I'm actually studying/researching is "genetic diversity of a bacterial infection" which is quite different as I'm not using antibiotics in the slightest. But I'm having fun doing that, except the post-doctorate fellow I was working with just left to take a faculty position and I'm all alone on the project now.

All is well in general except for my general lack of a social life outside of work and class, because those don't count. Man I can't wait for that week of insanity.

cool photos, anne - now i need a verbal tour for the full effect. glad you saw some monkeys, by the by... i know CR was kind of a let-down in the monkey department, so i'm happy for you.
i realize that i've been out of touch with most of you, and just wanted to letcha know that nh hasn't swallowed me whole yet or anything. although the current crisis in lebanon might... well it has crushed my heart, anyway. as of right now, my family and friends over there are okay and we'll see what transpires, i guess. the most important thing for us at this point is to stay informed - and not just f'ing US sources!! Liars!
But despite the country of my heart being ripped apart, bombed, and thrown away with little to no international outcry involved, i've been quite well. Lots of kayaking (I was promoted to guide status a while ago and now get to terrorize people on the water...and make sweet tips) and chilling with generally cool people in Portsmouth, which is a funky 'lil town. So basically outside ALL the time, plus beach action, books, and mini-explorations on time off... = happiness.
Also taught an Asian Art class (the reason why i horribly blew anne off for NY - i still owe you, buddy) which went swimmingly well thanks to the random crafts things i had lying around my house. Now i'm super into batik dyeing and making paper...

big news. my life is still extremely boring. except it involves more kayaking, of late.

Okay, so I still haven't started my MCAT course, but give me 5 hours and I'll be there, so don't feel too bad. But yeah, so I realized today in the car that it's the 12th and that means I still have two weeks still before I start my job for the summer, which is pretty awesome. Anyways, I visited my friend Jim up in Michigan this past weekend, and by that I mean really the weekend before this one because I don't update often. It was awesome we were generally ridiculous and I didn't wake up before noon each day I visited.

Now, for movie review with Mark: I trust that anyone who really really wants to see X3 has, so screw you. I personally thought that it was amazing, although it didn't follow the show at all. If you didn't stay past the credits, go see it again and stay past the credits... trust me. And yes I've already seen it twice and when I saw it for the second time, it was the second day it came out.

Now, I know you all aren't going to like this, but I thought that Da Vinci Code was a perfectly fine movie. I don't know what you people are talking about!?! (I'm apparently so enraged that I ended a sentence with a preposition!) You people are crazy, maybe its that you actually read the book more than once and not while sailing in the Florida Keys, but who knows?

Anyways, it seems my time is almost up on the library computer, and I've still got to find out where my MCAT class is tonight.
